“The Days of the Homeless”: this is the name of the initiative, now in its 15th year, for the “homeless”, started at first in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The event is supported by the President of the Czech Bishops Conference, mgr. Jan Graubner, archbishop of Olomouc. This includes many events: from 3rd to 5th December, funds were raised in the streets of Olomouc for buying foods for the homeless. On 7th December, a conference was held at the Diocesan Administration on social exclusion and the loss of one’s home. The meeting, was organised by the local charities, with many experts: social workers, agents, university students, and aims at discussing addictions, a recurring cause of problems in the life of the homeless. The highlight of the event, falling on the 15th anniversary of its establishment, is Mass, celebrated in the Chapel of Saint Anne, for the homeless. After Mass a meeting was held between the staff and the volunteers and the ex collaborators of the “Samaritan” Centre for the Homeless. The event will end today, 13th December, with the awarding of the prizes of the artistic contest about the homeless.
