The 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome”. The congress will be held in Rome, from 23 to 25 March 2007, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Treaty that laid the foundations of the European Community. Comece has also set up a Committee of Wise Men (25 Catholic personalities of various Eu countries) with the task of preparing a report on the ethical foundations of the Eu, which will be presented at the start of the congress in Rome. “The Congress – explains the General Secretary of Comece, NOËL TREANOR – will also prepare a message for Eu citizens and leaders with a view to promoting active citizenship and mobilizing a strong show of Christian witness”.
