Czech Republic: night of open churches

“The night of open churches”: that’s the name of the event planned for 22 January that will permit the faithful to visit various Christian churches in the historic city centre of Prague, in which various services of an ecumenical character will be held. The event is being organized as part of the Third European Ecumenical Assembly (EEA3). The Evangelical church dedicated to the Saviour will host a service for families with children at 16.00. Ecumenical prayers will be recited at the congregation of Moravian Brothers at 18.00, followed by the signing of the Charta Oecumenica by representatives of most of the Churches in the Czech Republic. The Third European Ecumenical Assembly will be presented in the church of St. Nicholas of the Czech Hussites at 19.30. A discussion on the Charta Oecumenica, moderated by Katerina Rózsová of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, is planned for 20.00; the participants will include Cardinal Miloslav Vlk. Lastly, the two new member states of the EU, Romania and Bulgaria, will present a review of their own history, culture, spiritual and cuisine in the refectory of the Dominican Convent from 19.30 onwards.
