Mixed marriages and the family in Europe: these will be the focal points of the meeting of the Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of South-East Europe due to open on 1st March (until the 4th), at Oradea (Romania). In particular, reflection will focus on marriage between a Catholic and a person baptized in another Christian confession and between a Catholic and a non-baptized. Seven Bishops’ Conferences will be represented at the meeting: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, the International Bishops’ Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius (Serbia and Montenegro – Macedonia) and Turkey. Representatives of the Holy See in Romania and at the Eu, Romanian Catholic bishops, and the general secretary of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of European Union (Comece) will also be present. The meeting, promoted by the Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (Ccee), will be hosted by the Bishops’ Conference of Romania and by the Greek-Catholic bishop of Oradea Mare, Monsignor Virgil Bercea. The results of the Ccee survey on the family will be presented during the meeting. The meeting will also include encounters with the local community and with representatives of the Orthodox Church and of public life.
