Switzerland: towards the assembly in Sibiu

2000 people are expected to congregate in the Cathedral of Lausanne tomorrow, 10 March, for an ecumenical meeting in preparation for the Third European Ecumenical Assembly due to be held in Sibiu, in Romania in September. Organized by the workgroup of the Swiss Christian Churches and the Council of Churches of Canton Vaud, the meeting will have as its theme “The light of Christ shines upon all”, the same as EEA3 in Sibiu. It will be opened with addresses by Colin Williams, secretary of the CEC, and Monsignor Aldo Giordano, secretary of the CCEE (Council of European Bishops’ Conferences). Later the participants will split up into workgroups based on themes of the European Ecumenical Charter. The reports that will come out of the workgroups will be assigned to the delegates who will be attending the assembly in Sibiu. The meeting will culminate with a lectio divina led by the President of the Conference of European Churches, Jean-Arnold De Clermont.
