The holding of National Youth Day in Holland until 2010 has been confirmed. Confirmation of the Catholic bishops’ commitment to the annual event was made at the last plenary assembly of the Dutch Bishops’ Conference, held in April and reported in recent days on the website rkkerl.nl, the official internet bulletin of the Dutch ecclesiastical province. After it was launched in 2005, National Youth Day continued in 2006 and, given its success, has now been confirmed for the next four years. The previous two events were held at Niewegein, but this year’s Day will be held in the more institutional venue of Brabentenhall at Den Bosch on 4 November. With the title “Paradise”, Catholic Youth Day 2007 is also intended as a preparatory stage for WYD 2008 in Sydney. A review of the event and the way it has developed will be conducted in 2010, say the bishops.
