Bible-study camps, pilgrimages and prayer, but also charitable service to the disabled, the elderly and the disadvantaged: these are just some of the ways of spending a different summer that the diocese of Paris is proposing to youth on its website (http://catholique-paris.cef.fr). The offer of projects is wide, ranging from Jean Vanier’s l’Arche Community for the disabled to volunteer service with “Montagne et prière” that introduces the young and the not so young to nature and also to prayer, from nocturnal marches and pilgrimages to missionary service. The programme published on the site provides links with the various initiatives (where further information can be requested or enrolments made). There is also an appeal to return to school after the summer: all youth are already invited to participate in a mass in Notre-Dame on 14 November (19.15) to mark the start of the 2007-2008 school year.
