Various events for the youth of the diocese of Nicopoli are being held this summer. A summer school for the disabled will be held in the parish of St. Anne of Malcika from 17 to 27 July. It will be animated by youth of the parish and volunteers from Caritas Ambrosiana in Milan, who will come to give support to their Bulgarian colleagues. The motto of the summer school is “Giving the gift of a smile”. The activities will be held in the Centre for youth pastoral care dedicated to the first Bulgarian martyr, the Blessed Eugenio Bossilkov. The participants will be divided into various interest groups: play, manual work, drawing and gardening. On 16 July a group of catechists and young lay assistants of the parish of St. Paul of the Cross in the city of Russe will leave on a pilgrimage to Rome accompanied by the parish priest Father Walter Gora to get to know at first hand youth pastoral work in Italy and to seek to learn models of work that could also be fruitfully applied in Bulgaria. Young Bulgarians from the diocese of Nicopoli will also be at Loreto, to participate in the meeting of Italian youth on 1-2 September in the presence of Benedict XVI. Five representatives of the Bulgarian delegation will be on the stage to meet the Pope.
