Spain: the 60th week of missiology

The celebration of the 60th Week of Missiology in Burgos will take place from 9 to 13 July. The theme chosen for this year’s event is “Africa, a provocation for the world and for the Church” 50 years after the Encyclical “Fidei Donum”. The aim of the Week is to review the situation of the Church’s mission in Africa. The discussions will begin on Monday 9 July with a welcoming address by the Archbishop of Burgos Francisco Gil Hellín and a lecture by Monsignor Robert Sarah, Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. On the following days other interventions will review the geopolitical situation of Africa and the Church’s involvement in mission. The programme also includes a round table with various experts, reports on the African Christian communities and especially a detailed examination of interfaith dialogue with the presence of Father, Agustín Arteche, of the White Fathers, who will speak on “The meeting with religions: Islam”.
