Pope’s good wishes to Catholic-Orthodox symposium

“May the reflection of your Symposium help support and corroborate true communion, even if imperfect, between Catholics and Orthodox, so that the fullness may be reached that will permit us one day to concelebrate the one Eucharist”. That’s the hope expressed by Pope Benedict XVI in a letter sent to Cardinal Walter Kasper, President of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, on the occasion of the 10th Inter-Christian Symposium, held jointly by the Franciscan Institute of Spirituality of the Antonianum Pontifical University and the Theological Faculty of the Aristotle University in Thessalonica. The theme of the meeting – being held on the island of Tunos (Greece) from 16 to 19 September – is “St. John Chrysostom, bridge between East and West”. The Pope’s letter also contains “special” good wishes for “the full recovery in the health” of the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Christodoulos, so that he “may resume his pastoral service as soon as possible”.
