EU coordinators for energy

The European Commission last week appointed coordinators for four trans-national priority projects in the energy sector. They are Mario Monti, President of the Bocconi University and former European Commissioner, as coordinator for the project of interconnection of the high tension power grids between France and Spain; the former German Economics Minister Georg Wilhelm Adamowitsch, as coordinator of the project for the completion of links between the off-shore wind farms in the Baltic and North Seas; Jozias Johannes van Aartsen, former Dutch Foreign Minister, to coordinate the work on the Nabucco gas pipe that links Turkey and Austria; and lastly, the Professor at the University of Lodz, Wladyslaw Mielczarski who will coordinate the realization of electrical links between Germany, Poland and Lithuania to provide power connections between the Baltic and the continental grid.
