In preparation for World Missionary Day, which will be celebrated this year on Sunday 21 October, and in the year commemorating the 50th anniversary of the publication of the encyclical “Fidei donum” by Pope Pius XII, the Pontifical Mission-Aid Societies of Slovakia have promoted a congress for all the priests of the nation, which will be held from 17 to 19 October on the theme of Fidei donum . The Fides international press agency, in announcing the congress, reports that the main speakers will include Cardinal Jozef Tomko, President of the pontifical committee for International Eucharistic Congresses, Msgr. Viliam Judak, Bishop of Nitra, and Msgr. Frantisek Kapusnak, national Director of the Pontifical Mission-Aid Societies in Slovakia. “The Congress – explains Kapusnak – is addressed to all the priests of Slovakia to help them discover the missionary dimension of the daily life of the Church”. There are reported to be some 200 Slovakian Fidei donum working abroad and a score in Slovakia itself.
