The French association “Portes Ouvertes” and the Evangelical Alliance of France annually hold a Sunday dedicated to the persecuted Church. This year it will be celebrated on 4 November and be dedicated to China, the country that will host the next Olympic Games next year. “Why? Because – explain its promoters – the fact is that in 2007 in China, the country that is preparing to host the Olympic Games, it remains impossible for large numbers of Christians to freely practice their religion, get hold of a Bible, or be instructed in the faith”. “So the Chinese organizers have set themselves the objective of being among the top three in the gold medals table? So be it! We have set ourselves the objective of accompanying” the Church in China. The Sunday devoted to China includes a series of activities: collections: sending of letters of solidarity to persecuted Christians by e-mail (contact@portesouvertes.fr); journeys to China, prayer.
