The European Commission approved the Report on transposing national regulations of the Council’s Framework Decision in the field of child sexual exploitation and child pornography, establishing the situation of national legislation and community objectives implementation. The document, based on information filed by Member States, registers general respect of the obligation to the penal prosecution of sexual exploitation and abuse of children as also the production of child-related audiovisual and printed material and its diffusion (also on the Internet). Nonetheless, “incomplete information” filed by some EU Countries doesn’t allow to have a definitive picture of “the exceptions and the amount of the criminal liability in the field of child pornography involving children in adolescent age”. According to the Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini a greater effort is needed to counter sexual tourism and improve the treatment of vulnerable victims in criminal proceedings”.
