The “High Level Advisory Group of Experts on Ethnic Minorities” last week handed over to the Community’s Executive Board a package of eight strategic guidelines to facilitate minorities’ access to the job market. The object of the study is the identification and the elimination of obstacles to occupational integration of the members of ethnic and religious minorities in Europe one of which is the lack of job titles and their non-recognition; educational and training gap; bureaucracy, lack of social protection, stereotyping and discrimination. The eight guidelines are the following: to turn integration into a political priority; to respect the principles of equality and equal opportunities; to be committed in the removal of existing obstacles; to create policies for a job market open to everyone; to consider and enhance social contribution by the members of minority groups; to allocate necessary resources: to sustain mutual learning and understanding; to enact policies to improve the condition of the Roma in the field of education, employment, health and lodging.
