Family, youth and the poor. These are the priorities addressed by the Slovakian Catholic Church from 2007 to 2013. It was stated in a communiqué issued last week , by the press office of the Bishops Conference of Slovakia abridging the Pastoral Care plan adopted by the 58th Bishops Plenary Meeting held in Donovaly on October 9-10. The communiqué made known that in 2013 will recur the 1150th anniversary since the arrival of the Saints Cyril and Methodius in the region which today bears the name of Moravia and Slovakia. The Pastoral Care plan, which a special commission worked on in the year 2006, is divided into 6 chapters (signs of the times; pastoral care direction; priority groups; family, youth and the poor; modes of realization). The plan was conceived in order “to respond to the negative and positive trends of Slovakian society”.
