"You are sure that the Lord guides his Church but you ask yourselves what will be tomorrow’s Church. Performing a service for Church unity in a social context whereby all areas of life become increasingly pluralistic is far from being simple", the bishops remarked, and exhorted the priests to remain faithful to their service. "Many of you are happy to serve as priests, despite the great challenges and the great word. We wish to thank you for your availability to welcome the expectation of the present changes and discover and realize the opportunities they embody". The bishops invited the priests to take on the new commitments regarding the change in the role of the priests and the concrete challenges in the area of pastoral care, underlining the importance of priestly celibacy that makes the fact that "human yearning to salvation and love finds its fulfilment in God" significant to the whole Church.
