The third Day of Jewish Culture will be celebrated in 22 countries of Europe on Sunday 16 June. Founded in France in 1996 with the slogan “Open Doors”, the initiative is aimed at familiarizing the public with the most varied aspects of Jewish culture, enabling everyone, even those who have never had any contacts at all with the Jewish world, to get to know Judaism “without prejudices”. “Calendar, festivities holidays”, is the common theme that will provide the leitmotif of the event in all the European cities. During the Day, throughout Europe, it will be possible to visit synagogues, Jewish museums, libraries, cemeteries and communities and places commemorating the Shoah. It will also be possible to listen to Jewish music, visit exhibitions and get to know typical Jewish cuisine. The Day aims to bring home to people that “reciprocal knowledge alone can lead to peaceful co-existence and tolerance”.
