In the course of last week the following legislative acts and communications, among others, came into force: · Common position (EC) no. 23/2002, of 6/12/2001, defined by the Council, in view of the adoption of a directive of the EP and the Council amending Directive 97/67/EC on the further opening to competition of the Community’s postal services (OGEC C 110E/37, 7/5/2002); · Communication of the Commission concerning the extension of the EC discipline for state aid to research and development (OGEC C 111/3, 8/5/2002); · Conference of Representatives of the governments of the individual states – Adoption of the budget of the fund destined to finance the Convention on the future of the European Union for 2002 (OGEC L 123/40, 9/5/2002); · Common position (EC) no. 26/2002, of 28/1/2002, defined by the Council, in view of the adoption of a Directive of the EP and the Council on the treatment of personal data and the safeguard of private life in the sector of electronic communications (OGEC C 113E/39, 14/5/2002).
