Following the terrorist attack of 8 May in Pakistan that caused 14 deaths, of whom 11 of French nationality, Bishop Jacques Fihey di Coutances and Avranches (Normandy) sent, on behalf of the “Catholic community” a message of condolence and personal solidarity to “all those who have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend”. “Unacceptable and appalling”: the words writes the bishops are never sufficiently strong to describe the outrage. But the bishop also urges that “dialogue always be privileged”.
