Promoting a good understanding between the religions as a way of overcoming prejudices; supporting religious freedom; developing educational programmes regarding the religions: these are just some of the points in an agreement signed in recent days by the president of Religious Affairs of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ylmaz, and the president of the Pontifical Council for interreligious dialogue, Cardinal Francis Arinze. “The dialogue between religions is important commented Ylmaz and indispensable between men of religion. Without overlooking the fact that it’s also essential for the peace and tranquillity of nations”. “The bridge of peace has been strengthened”, was the comment of Cardinal Arinze, who pointed out that “the document has no political significance”.
