The “ Accord between the Holy See and the Republic of Albania on the regulation of reciprocal relations” was signed in Tirana on 23 March 2002. The document was signed, on behalf of the Holy See, by Msgr. Giovanni Bulaitis, Nuncio Apostolic in Albania, and, on behalf of the Republic of Albania, by Prime Minister Pandeli Majko. Msgr. Bulaitis expressed the deep satisfaction both of the Holy See and of the local Church at the signing of the Accord, which, in the recent history of Albania, may be considered an historic event. Premier Majko thanked the Holy See and the local Church for their special and constant solicitude to the country and expressed the hope that the Accord would strengthen further the links between Albania and the Holy See.
