Demonstrating that it’s possible to rescue children and youngsters who have fought as soldiers from their terrible past of warfare and homicide and build for themselves an alternative life, is the objective that “Missio-Austria” has set itself. Missio-Austria is the mission-aid society of the Salesians in Austria. It launched its new campaign on behalf of child soldiers in Vienna in recent days. “Missio in aid of the child soldier” is the slogan of the campaign in favour of children in such countries as Uganda, Rwanda and Colombia. What Missio-Austria proposes to do is to confront Austrian public opinion with the grim situation of child soldiers, by drawing the attention of Austrian children in particular to it; as part of the campaign various initiatives are being dedicated exclusively to them, including a song, so that music may help to reinforce their involvement. The projects will be developed in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania.
