The Commissions of the EP are due to meet in Brussels from 18 to 21 March 2002. The main points on the agenda are the following: · Judicial and police cooperation in penal matters: framework programme, title VI of the Treaty on the Union (Commission for citizens’ freedoms and rights, justice and internal affairs, rapporteur: Coelho); · Programme of action for administrative cooperation: external frontiers, visas, asylum and immigration (Commission for citizens’ freedoms, rapporteur: Oostlander); · Asylum: member state competent for the examination of asylum application presented by a citizen of a third country (Commission for citizens’ freedoms, rapporteur: Marinho); · Campaign against drug trafficking; offences and sanctions applicable, minimum norms (Commission for citizens’ freedoms, rapporteur: Oostlander); · Campaign against racism and xenophobia: harmonization of legislations, reinforcement (Commission for citizens’ freedoms. rapporteur: Ceyhun); · Environment and sustainable development: world summit in Johannesburg in 2002, ten years after Rio (Commission for the environment, rapporteur: Papayiannakis); · Tourism: cooperative approach for sustainable development and job creation (Commission for regional policy, rapporteur: Torres Marques).
