The first plenary session of the European Convention, established by the European Council at Laeken (14-15 December 2001) will take place in the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels on 28 February and will be followed by a further six plenary sessions up till the end of July. The presidium of the Convention, composed of 12 members, will meet every two weeks, while the three-man presidency (Giscard d’Estaing, Giuliano Amato and Jean-Luc Dehaene) will meet each week. The 118 members of the Convention include, among others, 10 ministers, 3 deputy prime ministers (Italy, Sweden, Turkey) and many authoritative parliamentarians. In all 28 countries will be represented in the Convention.
