The EP will be suspended from 11 to 15 February. The parliamentary Commissions will meet in Brussels from 18 to 21 February. The main points on the agenda are as follows: · Human rights and democratization: role of the Union in third countries (Commission of External Affairs, rapporteur: Diez Gonzalez); · European economic situation: report on the recommendation of the Commission on the general lines of economic policy (Commission for economic and monetary problems, rapporteur: Trentin); · Preparation of the work of the Convention on the future of Europe (exchange of views, Commission for constitutional affairs); · Legislative programme of the Commission and programming of work (Commission of constitutional affairs, rapporteur: Malmstrom); · “A global dimension for a renewed transatlantic partnership” (Joint public audition, Commission of External Affairs and Commission of Industry, foreign trade, research and industry); · Declaration by Josep Piqué, Spanish Foreign Minister, and President of the Council, on the meeting of the Council of general affairs of 18-19 February 2002 (Commission of External Affairs).
