A delegation of five bishops of the Serb Orthodox Church and four bishops representing the Commission of the Episcopal Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) met in the Benedictine monastery of Marienrode near Hildesheim, in Germany from 11 to 13 February. The bishops a press release put out by COMECE reports “ discussed the implications of the process of European integration for both Churches“. In particular, COMECE explains, “the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the common conception of human rights”, was analyzed and the need for dialogue between the Churches and religions” emphasized. The bishops “undertook to organize another joint meeting in 2003” to strengthen reciprocal dialogue.
