In the course of last week, the following legislative acts and communications, among others, came into force: · Regulation (EC) no. 178/2002 of the EP and of the Council, of 28/1/2002, that lays down the general principles and requisites for food legislation, establishes the European Authority for food safety and fixes procedures in the field of food safety (OGEC L 31/1, 1/2/2002); · European Parliament – Final adoption of the general budget of the European Union for the 2002 financial year (OGEC L 29/1, 31/1/2002); · Recommendation of the Commission, of 25/1/2002, relating to the coordinated programme of official controls of food products for 2002 (OGEC L 26/8, 30/1/2002).
