What is the OECD?

Growth and sustainable development, higher standards of life, compatible with financial stability, sound economic expansion, extension of world trade, are – according to article 1 of the Convention which establishing it in Paris on 14 December 1960 and became operative on 30 September 1961 – the fundamental principles of the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development), an international organization with its headquarters in Paris. The founding members of the OECD are the industrialized countries. Thirty countries, European and non-European, are currently members of the organization. The Centre for Educational Research and innovation, an OECD think tank, was created in June 1968 and is aimed at analysis, joint research and cooperation on emerging issues of education and on possible solutions.
