The Heads of State and of government of the European Union, the president of the European Parliament, the president of the European Commission and the EU supremo for foreign policy and common security issued a joint declaration to mark the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks against the USA on 11 September. “The events of 11 September says the document have reminded us all that security and democracy can never be acquired in a definitive way but must be actively and unremittingly defended”. And the document continues: “The attacks of 11 September have given rise to the most extensive international cooperation in recent decades. Countries throughout the world have made common cause against the cynical contempt for human life that inspired the attacks. This exceptional solidarity needs to be maintained and encouraged, especially through dialogue between the various cultures”. The declaration concludes by affirming: “The determination of the EU to contribute to the struggle of the international community against terrorism shall not weaken. We will remain at the side of the United States and of all the other countries in this enterprise and will strive to construct a just international order that may promote peace and prosperity for everyone”.———————————————————————————————————– Sir Europa (English) N.ro assoluto : 44 N.ro relativo : 32 Data pubblicazione : 14/09/02
