With a communiqué issued on 9 September, the German Bishops’ Conference has announced its autumn plenary session, which will be held in Fulda from 23 to 26 September. “An assessment of WYD 2002 in Canada in view of the next world youth day scheduled to be held in Germany in 2005; a study day for the development of the liturgy in the German dioceses and the formulation of common guidelines for the prevention and treatment of cases of sexual abuse against minors in the Catholic Church”: these are the main points on the agenda of the meeting. The plenary assembly will also discuss other questions, including “current developments in bioethics and human genetics, relations with Russian Orthodoxy and directives for the multireligious celebrations of Christians, Jews and Moslems”. The meeting will open with an address by Cardinal Karl Lehmann, president of the German bishops’ conference and archbishop of Mainz, on the theme: “Christianity just one religion among others? Interreligious dialogue in a Catholic perspective”.
