Germany: An Sms with "the last advice of the evening" ” “” “

An Sms arrives with “the last advice of the evening”. Not an aid to one’s shopping, but a prayer. This new initiative of the Catholic Church in Germany will be launched on 1 July. Those who sign up, paying a contribution of three euros a month, will receive a daily message containing an evening prayer of a maximum 160 letters. The idea comes from Pastor Dietmar Heeg and Paulus Terwitte, a capuchin of the convent of Liebfrauen, well-known presenters of religious programmes on RTL and SAT1. Since 2001, both men have presented the standard prayers of the Church (which have since been released complete on CD) at the site www.abendgebet.de (evening prayer). The offer – presented on the website of the two “TV religious” kath.de – may be paid by sending stamps to the amount of the monthly quota or by paying into an account. Once payment is received the service will be launched automatically for one month. The offer includes the possibility of indicating a favourite prayer, a reminder notice to indicate the mobile phone number at which to receive the messages, and help and information concerning the initiative at the number 0049/069/1338906.
