Atheism, agnosticism and indifference to religion in Europe will be the themes tackled at the Assembly to be held in Graz from 21 to 24 May, hosted by the delegate for culture of the Austrian Episcopal Conference Egon Kapellari. Together with Cardinal Poupard, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, the delegates for culture of almost all the Episcopal Conferences of Europe will participate in the meeting. Guest speakers will include Cardinal Jozef Glemp, primate of Poland, Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, archbishop of Madrid, Cormac Murphy O’Connor, archbishop of Westminster and Jan C. Korec, bishop of Nitra. The opening session on Wednesday 21 May will tackle the theme “the challenge of a new dialogue with the current forms of non belief”. Later sessions will treat the specific relation between faith and culture and the challenge of a new dialogue with the current forms of atheism in the countries from which the delegates of the episcopal conferences come.
