“We have come to worship him” (Mt 2:2) is not only the slogan but also the theme of the “soundtrack” of the 20th World Youth Day, to be held in Cologne between 16 and 21 August 2005. For the official hymn of the event, the organisers are holding a competition with a deadline of 29 February 2004. “The hymn should sum up the theme of the event and at the same time act as its visiting card”, says the communiqué issued on 21 October, which specifies the hymn’s requisites. These include “reflecting Germany and its culture”. It should also be composed in German, English, French, Spanish and Italian. According to the latest estimates of the organisers, some 800,000 youngsters, 600 bishops and 4,000 journalists from all over the world are expected to attend the event.
