The 75th anniversary of Addes, the community of work that coordinates the diocesan secretariats for spiritual exercises in Germany, is being celebrated in Bingen on 18 September. The anniversary will be celebrated in the course of the annual conference of the diocesan representatives of Addes at the castle of Rochus at Bingen, in the presence of Cardinal Karl Lehmann, president of the German Bishops’ Conference. Addes was founded in Magdeburg on the occasion of the Katholikentag in 1928. Its members include the delegates of the diocesan secretariats for spiritual exercises, who regularly meet and take part in consultations to exchange experiences on the spiritual programmes of the individual episcopates and to plan new proposals. To this end Addes has set up its own website www.exerzitien.info – in which information can be found on the types of spiritual exercises on offer, and on the various retreat houses available for spiritual exercises in Germany (with the possibility to choose between various types of courses, accommodation and dietary preferences.). The site also provides various links to sites of on-line spiritual assistance run by many German dioceses, including Eichstätt, Freiburg, Hildesheim, Magdeburg, Würzburg, Mainz, Paderborn and Trier.
