England: 7th Forum of Churches ” “

The 7th Forum of Churches Together in England (CTE), the largest and most representative association of English churches, will be held from 18 to 20 July. Over 300 representatives of the national churches, ecumenical organizations and local groups will meet together at Swanwick in Derbyshire. The Forum will be chaired by the chairmen of the CTE, including the archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, and Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor. In preparation for the event, 600 questionnaires have been sent out; the replies to them, sent in by the local groups of the CTE, will provide a basis for discussion during the days of the Forum. For the first time the liturgical service will be officiated by a Pentecostal minister, the Rev. Esme Beswick. Archbishop Rowan Williams will also be attending the Forum for the first time; immediately after his installation as archbishop of Canterbury he signed a personal pact with the other leaders of the CTE.
