Social welfare and healthcare” “

The 12th European Conference on the social services, on the theme: “Delivering quality and accessibility in social welfare and healthcare in a larger Europe”, was held in Dublin from 16 to 18 June. Organized by the European Social Network (ESN), in collaboration with the Irish Presidency of the EU, the conference was attended by experts in the sector, delegates of NGOs and public structures of all EU states. It was divided into four main sessions: a) enlargement and social Europe; b) providing a quality service; c) providing accessibility to services; d) questions relating to change in Europe. The conclusions of the Conference, while they emphasized the considerable general improvement in the quality of the services provided by welfare at the European level, demonstrated that two problems exist that the Union is called to tackle and solve as soon as possible in collaboration with member states and especially with the personnel of the sector: the first concerns the low level of healthcare in the countries of enlargement; the second is the difficulty of informing citizens about the effective existence of social and healthcare services”.
