Brussels, 1st May: open doors” “

The day dedicated to citizens has by now become a tradition in Brussels. The European Council, in collaboration with Parliament and Commission, promotes this “open doors” day aimed at celebrating the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration (9 May 1950, starting point of the process of European integration). This year the day is being brought forward to 1st May. “The date of 1st May – explain the organizers – coincides with the date on which 10 new member states will join the European Union, and a series of celebrations will be held in Brussels to mark the event. The Council will welcome citizens with the following programme: projection of a video on the Council, guided visits to the Brussels headquarters for small groups with translation in four languages: French, Dutch, German (official languages of Belgium) and English. At the end of the visit, visitors will be offered gratis a series of publications”. A free bus shuttle service will provide links between the various institutions; visitors will thus be able to combine their visit with the events being organized in the European quarter. Stands will also be installed to inform the public of the activities of the Irish Presidency of the Council, EU military structures, Europol and documentation services. ———————————————————————————————————– Sir Europa (English) N.ro assoluto : 1289 N.ro relativo : 29 Data pubblicazione : 21/04/2004
