Prayers, hymns and the main truths of the Catholic faith in a 474-page book: called the “Warrior’s Prayer Book”, it was presented at the Ministry of Defence in Vilnius on 18 February. It is the first publication of its kind aimed at Catholic soldiers. Present at the book presentation were, among others, the apostolic nuncio Peter Stephan Zurbriggen, the military ordinary Eugenijus Bartulis and the coordinator of military chaplains Jouzas Graulis. The book, printed in 20,000 copies, will be donated to each Lithuanian soldier in service either at home or abroad. The costs of the publication, 76,000 euros, are being covered by the Ministry of Defence, the German Military Ordinariate and the Association “Aid to the Suffering Church”. The military bishopric in Lithuania was established on 25 November 2000, following the accord of 11 September of the same year between the Holy See and the Lithuanian Republic on the pastoral care to be provided to Catholics present in the army.
