The pan-European interministerial Conference on “new prospects for growth in an enlarged Europe” is due to be held in Budapest on 26-27 February. The aim of the two-day conference is to evaluate the progress made in the implementation, on the one hand, of the EU action plan for the information society “eEurope+” (member states and candidate countries), and, on the other, the “eEurope2005” plan currently in operation. The objective will be to furnish public and private players with the necessary means to best respond to the challenges of the new technologies of digital information and communication: “to create a favourable environment for private investment and job creation, stimulate productivity, modernize the public services and give everyone the chance to participate in the world information society”.
