The general secretary of the World Lutheran Federation Ishmael Noko met His Holiness the ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I in Istanbul on 28 January to “reinforce explained Noko relations with out Orthodox brothers and sisters”. “The dialogue between us added the representative of the Lutheran Federation has already clearly demonstrated that we are united on many things of our common faith”. In particular, during his meeting with Bartholomew, Noko emphasized that they shared “a dedication to the resolution of armed conflicts and the maintenance of peace in the world”. Bartholomew I for his part called the ecumenical dialogue between Orthodox and Lutherans “a blessing for both families” and asked that they continue along the road “of understanding and experience”.
