Ecumenical studies centre inaugurated” “

The “Pax et Unitas” Centre of ecumenical studies and inter-religious dialogue was inaugurated at Roman on 22 January, as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The new ecumenical studies centre is housed in the Franciscan Theological Institute in Roman. In a communiqué, the director of the press office of the Franciscans conventual, Father Victor-Emilian Dumitrescu, explained that the new Centre aims to “study the common elements that exist between the Christian confessions”, “combat mutual ignorance” among Christians, and make “a contribution to the ever more concrete realization of the Gospel ideal of communion in the line of unity in diversity”. The first number of the ecumenical review “Pax et unitas” was also launched on the same occasion. The ecumenical inauguration ended with a torchlight procession through the streets of Roman to the Orthodox church of the Assumption, where the participants prayed together for peace and unity.
