England: forum on evangelization” “

Over 50 experts from Ireland and from the whole of the British Isles took part in the Forum on evangelization held in the diocese of Westminster in recent days. The theme of the meeting “Changing evangelization – sharing Catholic experiences” also suggested its aim: that of pooling the various experiences and reflections in the field of proclaiming the Word of God. According to Father Phil Knights, of the Catholic Agency for Support to Evangelization (CASE) that organized the event, “those who work for evangelization often feel isolated from the rest of the Church. Our objective is that of supporting their efforts and those of their communities so that they may continue to work with zeal and enthusiasm. The most debated questions at the Forum included those of the future of the parishes and how to bring back “dropouts” to the Church. “It was an important moment of exchange – declared one of the participants, Michelle Moran of the Community of Sion (Zion) –; the work to be performed is daunting, the challenges are difficult, and what’s needed above all are communion and unity, starting out from our communities”. CASE is also participating in the ecumenical venture “Building bridges of hope” promoted by the ecumenical organization “Churches Together” in Great Britain and Ireland which is due to publish in 2005 a Directory of evangelization projects aimed at heightening awareness of the efforts being made by the Churches in spreading the Gospel.
