Germany: the "blessed holiday"” “

With the slogan “blessed holiday”, the Churches of Schleswig-Holstein will welcome tourists spending their holidays in the North German Land on 24 July. The welcome is being organized by the Catholic and Evangelic Churches, in association with ADAC-Hansa (the German automobile club for the area of Hamburg) and the tourist board for Schleswig-Holstein. The Evangelic bishop Bärbel Wartenberg-Potter of Lubeck and the Catholic vicar general Franz-Peter Spiza of Hamburg will distribute a guide to the churches of Schleswig-Holstein and of Hamburg. Representatives of ADAC, who will give advice about how to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams on the autobahn, and personnel from the tourist board, will also be present. Over 200 churches are available on the territory; the guidebook distributed for the occasion presents 57 of them, describing their characteristics and opening times. Various cultural programmes and evening events are also being organized. The project aimed at providing a welcome to tourists is also presented on the websites: www.kirche-tourismus.de and www.tourismusseelsorge.de.
