“May he who wants to open hearts become a surgeon or a priest”; “May he who wants to bring people light become an electrician or a priest”; “May he who wants to give people strength become a fitness instructor or a priest”: messages like these appear on posters and cards distributed in the churches of the archdiocese of Vienna in recent days, as part of an awareness-raising campaign on priesthood promoted by the office for vocational ministry of the archdiocese. With the aid of slogans and wisecracks, the mission of the priest is illustrated, with the aim of stimulating reflection in the reader. “The intention is to draw public attention to the question of vocation”, explains Niki Haselsteiner of the office for vocational ministry. On the back of the cards readers will find relevant information on addresses, spiritual exercises and persons to contact to follow up the question, and also the website of the vocational ministry of the archdiocese of Vienna: www.berufungen.at
