Reducing administrative red tape” “

In an attempt to curb the excessive red tape of EU bureaucracy – which too often impedes the capacity of firms to foster growth and employment – the European Commission launched an on line public consultation on 1st June through which it invites businesses and other interested parties to propose solutions to reduce the administrative formalities. The project is part of the work plan “Partnership for growth and employment” proposed by the Executive at the start of the year. On the internet site in question firms can find the procedures for participating in the project and replying to the questionnaires prepared by experts of the sector. In presenting the website () to the press, Commission President Barroso pledged to submit the result of the consultation to the “European Watchdog on administrative formalities” and other organs within the Commission “with a view to an individual analysis of the comments and observations”, and preparing new, “more simplified and efficient” legislative measures in the months ahead.
