The date of the national youth meeting was also announced at the bishops’ assembly: it will be held at Pola on 29-30 April on the theme “The Master is here and is calling you”. During the same bishops’ assembly, some members of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference met the religious provincials. “Meetings like this observed Cardinal Josip Bozanic, president of the Croatian bishops reinforce communion within the Church and testify to the important role of the religious orders in the Church’s life”. “Opening and generosity”: these are the roads indicated by the president of the Croatian Conference of Religious Superiors, the Dominican Iko Mateljan, to “forge genuine relations in the Church and overcome the difficulties sometimes encountered on this path”. The bishops and the provincials discussed the Convention aimed at entrusting the pastoral care of parishes to the institutions of consecrated life and the societies of apostolic life. The text of the Convention was unanimously approved and adopted. The episcopal Council for seminaries and religious vocations, together with the corresponding committees of the Croatian Conference of male religious superiors and of the Croatian Union of female religious superiors “will jointly plan the promotion of vocations within the Church. At the same time, a similar commitment will be assumed by the individual dioceses, bearing in mind the specific nature of the charisms and needs of the various religious communities”.
