The Conference of the Churches of Europe (CEC) and the Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE) have announced a competition for the design of the logo for the Third European Ecumenical Assembly (AEE3). The winner will receive a prize of 1000 euros and be invited to participate free of charge in the Sibiu Assembly. The winning logo will be used in various publications and reproduced in the publicity material for the Assembly throughout Europe. It will also be displayed in the town of Sibiu during AEE3 and constitute an essential element in the furnishing of the various venues for the meeting. It is also probable that all the entries in the competition will be shown in an exhibition to be held in conjunction with the Assembly. In their joint statement issued on 19 May to announce the competition, CCEE and CEC explain that the Sibiu Assembly will have as its theme “The light of Christ shines upon all. Hope for renewal and unity in Europe” and was called by the European Churches to give “new light” to the process of reconciliation among Christians” and to “rediscover the gift of light that Christianity is for Europe today”. So the logo ought to “render visible” these contents, be suitable for being used for publications and publicity, in multilingual contexts, and be reproducible either in colour or black and white. The deadline for entries is 30 June 2005. For further info: www.cec-kek.org or www.ccee.ch.
