Hungary, commemorative stamps for John Paul II” “

The Hungarian Postal Service, Magyar Posta Rt., is commemorating the 85th anniversary of the birth of John Paul II with the issue of a special set of stamps, presented in recent days at the seat of the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference in Budapest. Present at the press conference were, among others, the apostolic nuncio Msgr. Janusz Juliusz; and the Primate of Hungary, Msgr. Péter Erdõ. Msgr. Janusz recalled John Paul II as someone who “always represented the face of Christ to the world, the human face of the Son of God who became flesh. The face of the Pope will always remind us of the face of Christ, or the Christian values, the force of hope on which we must build the future”. The face of John Paul II occupies the centre of the stamps, while various images of his apostolic visits to Hungary are incorporated in the frame.
