The last informal meeting of the “Group of senior administrators of member countries of the EU for consular cooperation” (COCON) has drafted the final proof of a common European brochure aimed at informing EU citizens on the services of consular type provided by the European Union in Third Countries, especially in the case in which diplomatic missions of the state to which citizens belong are not present abroad. Its final version will be submitted to the approval of the European Council of Ministers in the months ahead, before being printed in all the official languages of the Union. The brochure has the dual objective of informing citizens in detail of the assistance of consular type available in Third Countries and reinforcing in them the consciousness of European citizenship alongside national citizenship.
